General Information:
Galangal is native to Asia, it is a leafy perennial and , like ginger but much more robust. Galangal root is rich in antioxidants, contains gallic acid, an antioxidant that can help fight inflammation. Galangal root is high in potassium, which can help maintain normal blood pressure, contains vitamin C, which can help improve immunity and enhance iron absorption.
Galangal root may help fight and prevent several types of cancer, including pancreatic, colon, breast, gastric, liver, and leukemia. Galangal root can help ease stomach pain and prevent stomach ulcers. It may also help eliminate the H. pylori bacteria, which can cause stomach ulcers. Galangal root contains quercetin, a flavonoid that may help lower the risk of developing Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, also has antibacterial effects, especially against S. aureus. ( Not scientifically proven)
How to use:
The basic method for dried herbs and flower is, take 2-3 tablespoons of dried herb in a cup or teapot. Pour hot water over it and cover it with lid for 10-30 minutes. Hot water is needed to draw out the antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins, flavonoids, and volatile oils from the botanicals. Strain and squeeze out as much as liquid as possible and enjoy!
You can sweeten your herbal tea with a bit of honey, natural fruit juice, stevia leaves powder and or licorice root powder.
You can make ice cubes or pops by freezing tea in ice trays or pop molds.
